Never be satisfied with how you think your employees feel about their working environment.

It's too late to find out if things aren't great after an employee has handed in their notice.

One way of achieving this is to regularly measure your staff's opinions of their work space by asking them for open and honest feedback each year.

We find this is welcomed by staff and is often a great indicator of innovations you can put in place to improve things.

The key pitfall here is that if you survey your staff, it's essential you respond to the feedback.

If you do, your employees will admire your commitment to them, and it doesn't have to cost you the earth. It's just needs a little time spent on this, regularly.
